On Tuesday this week we had to deliver a sofabed, a stool bed, and a foot stool to Penzance, to be shipped over to the Isles of Scilly.
The Isles of Scilly are a group of islands about 30 miles off Lands End in the Atlantic Ocean. They are quite remote and although they are populated there is limited choice of furniture, so most purchases have to made from the Mainland. Everything must then be shipped over in containers.
The sofabed was built with bolt on arms, and the bed action was left out to be bolted in once the sofa was in the room. Our customer has a small cottage in the Isles of Scilly, and needed the sofabed to be made in pieces in order to get it into the cottage.
The sofabed pieces were wrapped up using fabric and bubble wrap as they would be loaded into a small container for the crossing to St Mary’s the largest of the Scilly Isles. We put together a comprehensive set of instructions for the customer as they would be putting the pieces together.
We had a very pleasant journey down to Penzance, and back up to High Wycombe.
